Literature 

1. Where is your book report for Animal Farm?

We are not going to start a new book before Christmas break, so just focus on the books you have to read for your Geography project and history this week and the Growth mindset book from Dad at the end of the week.

English From the Roots Up 

• Learn the three new roots for this week - dens/dentis, corpus/corporis, unus
• List as many extra words that fit the new roots as you can on a piece of paper.
• Study the roots throughout the week.  Make sure you are studying, test on all 33 words so far next week.

Middle School Essay Writing/Windows to the World - DO WITH MOM 

We have finished with Essay writing and are starting a course on Literary Analysis called Windows to the World.  I have put the workbook in your black box.  This will be graded with 15% of your grade based on Exercises, 20% on Projects, 50% on Essays and 15% on Quizzes.  This material is challenging, PLEASE come see me to discuss each day.

1.      Read the welcome on pages 5-8. 

2.      Read pages 9-14 on Annotation.  Pay close attention to how they annotate the Gift of the Magi.  Since you have already read this story, is this how you would have annotated it?

3.  Look at "The Story of An Hour" that I annotated for you as an example.  Go over with Mom how you would have annotated it.

Modern World History 

• Watch America, the Story of US episode 9 titled Bust
• Read book 9 Chapters 16 & 17 on the great depression.  Watch this video on Herbert Hoover.
• Read Dust to Eat, Drought and Depression in the 1930s.  Yes, all of it.  There is no literature this week so you have time.
• Look through Children of the Great Depression.  Read chapter 6 on Boxcar kids.

Foundations (None Monday/Wednesday) 

**Read All Creatures Great and Small chapters 40-42 this week.
