- On a map of world mark the US and Canada. Then, on a map of North America, refer to the lines of latitude and longitude to help you label the Great Lakes; label the major bays and islands in northern Canada and along its Atlantic and Pacific coasts. You don't have to try to include every single thing - just choose the major landforms and water features. Label the major mountain ranges and rivers. Label them. You can decide how you'd like to indicate mountain ranges. Look at a variety of maps to get ideas. Use your discretion when deciding what mountain ranges and rivers to add-this is your map. Finally, add a map key in one corner of your map. In this key, draw the symbolx you are using and label them. For instance, you might have a symbol like this ^ to show mountains, adn blue lines to show rivers.
